Bent Pyramid – Dahshur

The Bent Pyramid is not the most attractive Pyramid around and is called such due to the change in angle of the sides. They got to a certain height and found that it was not stable. So they changed the angle to that of the Pyramids that we recognise at Giza.

Due to the shape, the Pharaoh at the time had another Pyramid built for himself to use.

Our First Pyramid of the Trip – The Bent Pyramid

Here we are at the Bent Pyramid in Dahshur, south of Cairo.

Heather is sitting on a Rock as a number of others thought it would be good to climb up the side of the Pyramid

Fruit and Veg for Sale

There are plenty of places to get fresh fruit and veg on the side of the road – if you wish.

We adopted a rule that if it can’t be peeled, then we wouldn’t eat it

Fishing on the Canals

It is difficult for us to appreciate the need of the people in Egypt. There are desperate for food that they are prepared to fish in almost any water. This Canal which runs from the Nile river has in other locations plenty of rubbish, and the colour of the water left a lot to be desired when it comes to obtaining a food source. Yet they did.

Subsistence Farming in Cairo

Even in Cairo there are pockets of farms still operating. This one alongside the Nile River appears to support a number of families. In the background you can see the City of Cairo.
