
One of the things that really stood out was the vibrant crops that were growing along the River Nile – The soil right up close to the actual river is very fertile and as can be seen in this photo, all crops were being looked after by hand – there appeared to be little to no mechanisation . I was also fascinated by the lack of fences. There appeared to be nothing more than lines on the ground to separate various farms right along the river.
The contrast of the plants was also interesting – from Palm trees, Banana trees right through to annual crops including maize as can be seen in the photo below.
