Nazareth

In the northern part of Israel between Haifa and the Sea of Galilee is the City of Nazareth. The City is made up of predominately Arab citizens in Israel. In the New Testament, the city is described as the childhood home of Jesus, and as such is a centre of Christian pilgrimage, with many shrines commemorating biblical events.

In the Centre of the photo above is the Church of the Annunciation. According to the Gospel of Luke, Nazareth was the home village of Mary and also the site of the Annunciation (when Mary was told by the Angel Gabriel that she would have Jesus as her son).

The population of Nazareth today s around 81000 people.
