St Peters Boat
Jesus Boat

The Sea of Galilee Boat, also known as the Jesus Boat, was an ancient fishing boat from the 1st century AD, discovered in 1986 on the north-west shore of the Sea of Galilee in Israel. The remains of the boat, just over 8 metres long and 2.3 metres wide and with a maximum preserved height of 1.3 metres, first appeared during a drought, when the waters of the Sea of Galilee receded.

There is no evidence connecting the boat to Jesus or his disciples, but the significance of the find that identifies the type of boat that would have been around in the time of Jesus is truly great.

The preserved boat is located at Yigal Alon Museum in Kibbutz Ginosar and is worth spending some time to listen to the presentation on how the recovery of the boat was performed, seeing the boat and the other information there is really worth the visit.
