While  we stayed in Aswan, we stayed at the Movenpick Resort which is located on the Elephantine Island in the Nile River. On the western side of the Nile River at Aswan is the Tomb of the Nobles.

Early in the morning, looking from the Resort, I could see the lighting of the Tombs of the Nobles. These tombs are rock-cut in the sand covered hills for high-status officials of the Old and Middle Kingdom. At the crest of the hill is the domed tomb of a Muslim prophet which gives the hill its local name, Qubbet el-Hawa or ‘Dome of the Winds’

This photo shows the doors that have been cut into the stone of the hill and the Muslim tomb on top of the hill. On the Nile River, there is a small Cruise Ship that goes from Aswan downstream.
