View of the Jordanian Mountains from Ein Gedi

As we travelled south on the western side of the Dead Sea, we came across a great little – almost oasis – settlement called Ein Gedi. almost halfway down the length of the Dead Sea.

The significance of this area is great – in the hills was where King David hid whilst trying to avoid Saul. The story of this is told in 1 Samuel 24:1-2 of the Bible.

At Ein Gedi, there are many things to do and see. The most significant for our visit was a walk in Ein Gedi nature reserve and national park.

As we were about to leave Ein Gedi and looking East towards the Jordanian Mountains mid afternoon, the water of the Dead Sea was very calm providing a magnificent reflection.
