Heather and I decided it was time for a break, so we headed to Gunbower Island near Koondrook on the Murray River’s southern side. With travel restrictions from Covid lifting in mid-July 2021, crossing into NSW was still not an option, making Gunbower Island – Victoria the perfect choice for a few days of quiet.
Embracing the Quiet
The emphasis was truly on ‘quiet’—there were hardly any people around, and our campsite on was even more pleasant than we had hoped. The serene environment allowed us to fully relax and enjoy the natural beauty of Gunbower Island – Victoria.

We spent our days soaking in the tranquility, surrounded by the lush landscapes and the gentle sounds of nature. The peacefulness of the island provided a perfect backdrop for unwinding and recharging.
Celebrating Heather’s Birthday
Our time on Gunbower Island was so enjoyable that we returned on Saturday to celebrate Heather’s birthday. It was a wonderful way to mark the occasion, surrounded by the serene beauty and the company of each other.
