Kimba – Silo Art

Kimba’s Stunning Silo Art: A Tribute to Rural Australia

Kimba, a charming town in South Australia, has truly embraced the art of storytelling through its impressive silo art. The town has invested in transforming the central silos into a magnificent canvas. To their credit, they have done it exceptionally well. The result is a breathtaking display on the western side of the central silos that captures the essence of rural life.

A Masterpiece in the Heart of Kimba

The Kimba Silo Art, completed in September 2017 by Melbourne artist Cam Scale, spans over five and a half silos. It stands over 60 meters wide and 25 meters high12. This striking mural depicts a young girl standing in a wheat field at sunset. It is brought to life with stunning colors that shift and evolve with the changing light from dawn until dusk1. The artist dedicated 26 days and used 200 liters of paint to meticulously craft this masterpiece2.

A Community Effort

The silo art project was commissioned through Juddy Roller by the Kimba Community Development Group. It was part of the Igniting Kimba Arts Program2. This community-driven initiative highlights the town’s commitment to enhancing its cultural heritage and attracting visitors.

A Must-See Attraction

The Silo Art has become a must-see attraction for travelers passing through the region. The designated viewing area on Railway Terrace allows visitors to safely admire the artwork from a distance. It provides a perfect spot for photos2. The vibrant mural not only adds beauty to the town but also serves as a tribute to the region’s agricultural roots and the hardworking spirit of its people.

Mishael’s Photo Moment

Our adventurous little bear, Mishael, couldn’t resist the opportunity to have his photo taken in front of the stunning silo art. The colorful mural provided a perfect backdrop, capturing the essence of Kimba’s charm and creativity.
