A Serene Escape at Scotts Beach, Fowlers Bay Conservation Park
Just past Fowlers Bay, we found ourselves at the tranquil Scotts Beach, part of the Fowlers Bay Conservation Park. This hidden gem offers a number of campsites nestled behind the dunes, providing a peaceful retreat for travelers seeking a connection with nature.
A Night by the Beach
After navigating a bit of a rough road, we were rewarded with a serene campsite right by the beach. The minimal camp fees were a pleasant surprise, and the opportunity to spend a night in such a beautiful location was well worth the journey. The beach area, with its unstable dunes in the distance, offered a stunning and unique landscape that we thoroughly enjoyed exploring.
Travel Tips
For those planning a visit, we have a helpful suggestion: avoid taking the first turn-off after Fowlers Bay. Instead, proceed on the Corrobie Road for about 7 kilometers before turning back to Scotts Beach. This route, marked in dark blue, is far better and quicker than the shorter trip through the dunes, especially if you’re towing a van. While it may be a bit longer, it ensures you won’t get bogged down in the sand. It also took us a little longer than the suggested 18 minutes, but the smoother journey was well worth it.
A Peaceful Retreat
Despite the wind picking up in the afternoons, the days at Scotts Beach were absolutely fantastic. The cool sea breeze and the sound of the waves created a relaxing atmosphere that allowed us to unwind completely. We even managed to get a touch of sun, adding to the overall sense of relaxation.

Our Campsite was very pleasant – right behind the Dunes and was fairly protected from the wind.

Heather did very well and climbed the dunes to experience the view just above the campsite

Looking in the other direction you can see some of the ruggedness of the Australian coastline
