A Thrilling Encounter with Western Australia’s Killer Whales in Bremer Bay
The Majestic Orcas of Western Australia
Western Australia’s Killer Whales are a distinctive presence in Australian waters, congregating in a specific area during certain times of the year. These apex predators patrol the continental shelf in search of giant and colossal squid and have been observed preying on other cetaceans, including beaked whales.
An Unforgettable Day at Sea
What a great day it was! Despite the rough weather on the way out, we spent over two hours observing these magnificent creatures. The journey started with choppy waters, but the excitement of seeing the Orcas kept our spirits high.
Witnessing the Orcas in Action
We were fortunate enough to find the Orcas having a feed on squid. It was an incredible sight to see these powerful predators in their natural habitat, showcasing their hunting skills. After their meal, we watched them just “cruisin’” around, seemingly enjoying the calm waters as much as we did.
The Calm After the Swell
As the afternoon progressed, the swell calmed down, making the experience even more enjoyable. The serene waters provided a perfect backdrop for observing the Orcas as they glided gracefully through the ocean. It was a truly remarkable day, filled with awe and wonder at the beauty and power of these incredible animals.
Our encounter with the Killer Whales of Western Australia was an unforgettable highlight of our travels. If you ever have the chance to witness these majestic creatures, I highly recommend it. It’s an experience that will stay with you forever.
