Discover the breathtaking beauty of the view Hobart and Mt Wellington. A Memorable Visit in 2002.
A Spontaneous Getaway
Back in 2002, Heather and I decided to take a quick getaway to Hobart, Tasmania. We took advantage of some incredibly cheap airfares. After hiring a small car on arrival and set out to explore the stunning landscapes of southern Tasmania. We booked a room at B&B in Hobart – which I can only say was very interesting and challenging to get to the room.
Discovering kunanyi/Mt Wellington
While recently going through some old photos, I came across a late afternoon shot I took from near the summit of Mt Wellington (now known as Kunanyi/Mt Wellington). This particular image offers a breathtaking view looking down towards Hobart. The Tasman Bridge is clearly visible off to the right, spanning the Derwent River. The view from Mt Wellington is one of the best ways to take in the beauty of Hobart’s location. It is nestled between the river and the mountains.
Reviving Old Memories
This photo holds a lot of memories for me, and I had some fun bringing it back to life. Originally a print, I scanned it and gave it a touch-up using Adobe Lightroom. Although the image came out a little soft after all these years, I’m quite pleased with the result. The process of enhancing the photo allowed me to revisit the trip and remember how stunning the scenery was that day. The late-afternoon light cast long shadows and highlighted the natural beauty of the Tasmanian landscape.
Conclusion
Our visit to Hobart and Kunanyi/Mt Wellington in 2002 remains one of our cherished memories. The breathtaking views, the serene atmosphere, and the joy of exploring new places together made it a truly unforgettable experience. Revisiting these memories through old photos has reminded me of the beauty of Tasmania. They also remind me of the special moments Heather and I have shared over the years.
