The lock’s system adjusts the river’s water levels so boats can transit between stretches at different heights, and the entire process takes about 20–30 minutes. Tradition and modern engineering combine at Esna, with crews still using ropes and pulleys alongside automated gates.

The MV Miriam stands out for comfort and style. It blends classic Egyptian hospitality with modern amenities. Spacious cabins, panoramic sun deck, and a pool are just part of the appeal.
