Journey Across the Nullarbor Plain: A Unique Adventure with Mishael
As we embarked on our journey across the Nullarbor Plain, we were greeted by a sign marking the start at the eastern end. This iconic sign, adorned with numerous custom stickers from travellers around the world, stands as a testament to the many adventurers. Specifically, those who have passed through this vast, almost treeless expanse.
The Vast Expanse
The Nullarbor Plain, the world’s largest limestone plain, spans an impressive 180,000 square kilometers. Nestled inland from the Great Australian Bight, it stretches between Western Australia and South Australia. The landscape is strikingly flat, with a semi-arid climate that adds to its unique charm. At its longest point, the plain extends about 1,200 kilometers from east to west.
Natural Wonders
One of the most captivating features of the Nullarbor is its southern edge. Here, you’ll find breathtaking coastal cliffs, ancient limestone caves, and spectacular blowholes. The northern edge, on the other hand, borders the shifting sand dunes of the Great Victoria Desert. The centre of the plain is home to a diverse array of flora and fauna.
