We started our next adventure. After a pleasant drive from home, we arrived at Psyche Bend Camping Area in Mildura, the tranquil landscape beside Kings Billabong instantly thrilled us. Our adventure began as sunlight danced over the serene riverbanks and majestic red gums.

Discover Psyche Bend’s historic pumping station, guided by passionate volunteers. We explored the old steam engine and marveled at its ingenuity, gaining insight into early Mildura’s story. The Billabong’s vibrant birdlife and peaceful waters set the stage for unforgettable moments.
Fishing, Bird Watching and Scenic Picnics
Fishing enthusiasts will love the many river spots available. We and found the perfect shaded area for our stay in our Caravan, surrounded by tranquil bushland and birdsong. There were numerous bird type including Pelicans, Eagles, Herons, Ducks and Black Eyed Minors.
Practical Tips for Psyche Bend
- Arrive early or at sunset for truly stunning photos—especially of the Billabong and riverbank scenes. Photograph the historic pump house, majestic gums, and vibrant wildlife to create lasting memories.
- Psyche Bend is suitable for self-contained vehicles, tents, and camper trailers. There are no facilities, so we brought our own water and supplies. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash when close to the riverbank.
- Watch for changing conditions and respect warnings about water safety and wildlife. Blue-green algae sometimes appears in the Billabong, so check park updates before your trip
