Bunda Cliff Camp Sites – Nullarbor Plains

Camping at the Bunda Cliffs: A Breathtaking Experience

Stunning Sights Along the Nullarbor Plains

The Bunda Cliffs are a stunning sight along the Nullarbor Plains, offering a unique camping experience. You can set up camp near the edge of the cliffs and enjoy the panoramic view of the Great Australian Bight. However, it’s important to avoid this spot if the wind is strong. Also, if you are prone to sleepwalking, be cautious, as the cliffs are quite high and the winds can be fierce.

A Coastal Marvel

The Bunda Cliffs lie between the Nullarbor Plain and the Great Australian Bight, two of Australia’s most remarkable natural wonders. Made of limestone, these cliffs offer a spectacular view in one of the most remote areas of Australia. The cliffs are part of the world’s longest continuous line of sea cliffs. The lower half of the cliffs has a distinctive whitened appearance, adding to their unique charm.

Geological Wonder

Extending for about 100 kilometers (62 miles) from the edge of the Great Australian Bight to the border of Western Australia, the Bunda Cliffs range from 60 to 100 meters high (200 to 400 feet). The section of the cliffs in Western Australia is known as the Baxter Cliffs. This geological wonder is a must-see for anyone traveling through the Nullarbor Plain.

A Must-See Destination

The coastline is so stunning that you have to see it for yourself to truly appreciate its beauty. Camping at the Bunda Cliffs offers an unparalleled opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural splendor of this remote region. Whether you’re an avid camper, a nature lover, or simply seeking a serene escape, the Bunda Cliffs provide a breathtaking backdrop for an unforgettable adventure.

UPDATE: Camping along the Bunda Cliffs is no longer permitted. The limestone cliffs are prone to collapsing, and for public safety reasons all Bunda Cliff camping spots have been closed.

Exploring the Bunda Cliffs and camping near their edge was a highlight of our journey across the Nullarbor Plain. The combination of stunning views, unique geological features, and the tranquility of the remote location made it an experience we will cherish forever.
